Why can't I get purple from my laser printer?

Chances are you’ve been frustrated when you try to print purple using your laser printer. You are not alone.

When we print purple on our printing presses we use an ink called Pantone Violet. This is the official WSU purple. Pantone Purple is not an option for monitors or laser printers.

You can try to get closer by calibrating your monitor and printer colors. It is sort of complicated but worth the effort if you want to see and get the best colors.

Depending on your application another option is to have us pre-print your logo or other purple symbols on sheets that you can run through the laser printer as you need them. Call us if you want to explore this option, 507.457.5025.
