Rules of the Disability Resource Center

  • All exams must be scheduled by the student at least 3 days in advance. If additional accommodations beyond extended time and quiet space are needed, testing center staff may need additional advance notice. Students needing a laptop computer or private space will be accommodated on a first come, first served basis.
  • Tests must be taken at the scheduled time.
  • The test time will be determined by the instructor/professor and scheduled by the student at the Disability Resource Center.
  • Exams not taken at the scheduled time will be so noted and returned to the instructor/professor.
  • Time and one half is the standard rule for extended time (except for students with a vision and/or hand-mobility impairment.)
  • Students must inform the center in advance if additional accommodations are needed.
  • Students may not leave the testing area once the test has begun without permission of the test proctor.
  • No textbooks, notes, or calculators are allowed in the testing area unless otherwise instructed in writing by the faculty member concerned (Books, bags and backpacks must be left with the proctor).
  • The proctor cannot help the student with the test, only with the accommodations.
  • Faculty may choose to supervise the exam, but adherence to the accommodation granted must be followed.
  • Faculty may choose to give exams orally to students with a vision and/or hand mobility impairment.
  • Students exhibiting unruly behavior or using abusive language will be asked to leave.
