Welcome to our new online test sign up!
If you have any questions, please contact the Disability Services office at 507-457-5878 or e-mail: ds@winona.edu.
To make signing up for exams more accessible and efficient for you, we are introducing a new way you can sign up for your exams!
Students
Please follow the steps below to guide you in our new process.
- Go to the WSU website. Click on Current Students, Disability Services, then the Online Sign Up link (left hand side of the web page).
- The link to sign up for tests online is: Test Management Form. If at any point a page pops up and you are asked to enter your username and password, it will be important to remember to enter your full e-mail address (i.e. jsmith09@winona.edu). The password is the same one used to access your WSU e-mail.
- Please make sure to complete all areas on the sign up page, as indicated. You will need to know the exact spelling of your professor's last name for that specific section. Unless you know your professor's e-mail address, the easiest way to enter in the professor's name is to click on the book icon. When the new page opens, type in your professors last name and search for their information that way.
- When you are done, click on the 'ok' button at the bottom of the page. Note: Your information will not be submitted if information is left blank. There will be an indication in red once you click on 'ok' if you are missing any information. If your information has been submitted successfully, you will see a new page come up on your screen notifying you of your submission.
- Once you submit your information, a notification will be sent to your professor for them to provide our office with proctoring instructions, and also a notification to our office that you have signed up for an exam.
- The 3 day rule still applies! with a small exception: 3 days now equals 72 hours. For example, signing up for an exam on a Friday at 8:59 a.m. will be the VERY LAST MINUTE you can sign up for a 9:00 a.m. exam on Wednesday. If you sign up for an exam less than 3 days of the scheduled exam day, you will receive an e-mail in your WSU e-mail account notifying you of the late sign-up. Please follow the instructions in that e-mail
- Once you are directed back to our website, you have successfully signed up for your exam! All you will need to do then is come in to our office the day and time of your exam.
- Finally, you will need to use either the exam sign up binder in our office OR the online test sign up format to sign up for an exam - not both. Please remember when signing up in the binder that you will need to pick up a paper copy of the Test Management Form to deliver to your professor.
Professors
If a student in one of your classes signs up to take an exam in our office they may still be handing you a paper copy of the Test Management Form. However, we now have a new way for students to sign up for exams! A student may now sign up for exams online.
1. You will know if one of your students has signed up online if you receive 2 e-mails. One e-mail will be a notification to you of the student signing up for an exam - which student has signed up for the exam and whether or not they are within our 3 day sign-up policy. The second e-mail will be a link for you to fill out the proctoring instructions you would normally write on the paper copy of the Test Management Form.
Important Note: We have been informed that it is automatic for you to receive 2 e-mails; to change that would delay this service indefinitely.
2. When you click on the link in the second e-mail, you will need to fill out your proctoring instructions and click the ‘submit’ button at the bottom of the page. In doing so, an e-mail will be sent to Disability Services indicating your proctoring instructions and approval (or disapproval) of the day and time of the exam.
3. To send exams to our office you can e-mail them to dstests@winona.edu (our new exam-only e-mail address) or bring the exams to our office in Maxwell 314. A paper copy of the Test Management Form can be found here.
4. If a student signs up late for an exam (within 3 days of the scheduled exam), they are asked to contact you to see if you are willing to send the exam to our office. The student is supposed to do the legwork if they sign up late. We will not be contacting you for the exam.
5. Once you have clicked the button 'complete task' at the bottom of the page to submit your proctoring instructions and provided us with a copy of the exam, we will proctor the exam and return it to you as you indicate to us.
We hope that you find this process to be more efficient and accessible in your daily lives! Any comments or concerns? Please e-mail us at ds@winona.edu or call 507-457-5878.
