WSU Teacher Education Admission Cycle – Fall 2008
(to begin the professional education sequence Spring 2009)

Fall 2008 Schedule:

  1. Pre-register for WSU-Winona admission meeting:Gildemeister Hall 152 or email- edstu@winona.edu
  2. Students will be selected under competitive admission ranking.
  3. Students are admitted to a particular campus program and are expected to start as stated below: Students applying for the Rochester program start during fall semester only.
    • Students applying for Winona in fall start in the following spring semester.
    • Students applying for Winona in spring start the following fall.
  4. If you need accommodations, please contact the WSU Disability Resources Center 507-457-2391.

At least a month before semester starts Take Praxis I - PPST(Math, Reading, and Writing) tests. -Select WSU as recipient to receive scores
  • Sign up on Praxis web site http://www.ets.org/
    (Provided on WSU campus via web site sign-up)
  • Or call: LaCrosse (608-785-8968) or    
    Rochester (507-292-9713) computeri-based sites.
  • Refer to other locations to take the test via the
    web site.
At least 1 month before semester starts TRANSFER COURSE WORK DUE

Submit official transfer transcripts to the WSU Admissions Office for review/updating of credit evaluation ASAP.

Winona Campus
ADMISSION MEETING
& Writing Proficiency Exam

Time: 3:00–6:00 pm
Place: Kryzsko Commons – East Hall

This is the only admission meeting on the Winona campus for this semester. Each student will begin the process of compiling materials for an Admission’s folder. One hour of the meeting, students will take the department Writing Proficiency Exam.  WSU students will be billed a $20 fee for the exam on their tuition statements. Non-WSU students need to pay on-site by check the day of the meeting.

Rochester Campus
ADMISSION MEETING 
& Writing Proficiency Exam

Time: 3:00–5:30 pm
Place: Check in at EA 201
This is the only admission meeting on the Rochester campus for this semester. Each student will begin the process of compiling an admissions folder. One hour of the meeting, students will sit for the department Writing Proficiency Exam. WSU students will have the $20 fee billed on their tuition statements. Others

  • Documentation of having taken PPST testing
  • 2-3 page essay on diversity/background experiences
  • College of Education will obtain transcripts, DARS, and writing proficiency score

November 5,2008 -Winona
NOTIFICATION LETTERS MAILED Letters of acceptance or letters of deficiency will be mailed to applicants to the address listed on the College of Education Admission application
