Wisconsin Licensure Application Directions

WSU offers approved programs for the following Minnesota teaching levels:

Elementary: Birth to Grade 6

Focus on integrated curriculum and developmentally appropriate learning experiences for young children from birth through early childhood and elementary school:

Elementary with Preprimary and Early Childhoos (birth to grad 6)

Special Education: Early Chidhood (birth to age 6)

 

Elementary: K-8 with Middle Level Specialty

Certification to teach all subjects in grades K-6 and also to teach in a specific specialty in a Middle School setting. Majors must choose one of the folowing areas for the Middle School specialty area:

  • Middle School Math
  • Middle School Science
  • Middle School Social Studies
  • Middle School Communication Arts and Literature (Language Arts)

 

K-12 Licenses

Certification to teach K-12 in a specific subject area:

  • Art Education
  • English as a Second Language
  • Music Education
  • Physical Education
  • Special Education
    • Developmental Disabilities
    • Learning Disabilities
  • World Language: Spanish

 

5-12 Licenses Certification to teach 5-12 in a specific subject area:
  • Business Education
  • Communication Arts and Literature (Language Arts)
  • School and Community Health Education
  • Mathematics: Secondary
  • Social Studies: History
  • Science Education (Note: a General Science license for Middle School is  available)
    • Chemistry
    • Physics
    • Biology Life Science
    • Earth Science
