Examinations (PPST and Praxis II)

Common Questions:

Where and when do I need to take the Praxis I and II Pre professional Skills Test (PPST)?

What are the new cut off scores for the PPST?

How much do the Praxis tests cost and how do I sign up for them?

What is the Writing Test like and how do I prepare for it?

What happens after I take the test? Where are the results filed?

MN requires that applicants for teacher licensing successfully complete both Praxis I (PPST) and Praxis II exams.

  • Praxis I (PPST exams) need to be attempted prior to applying for admission to the Teacher Education Program and passed for licensure requirements..
  • Praxis II (exit exams) need to be taken prior to licensing and are usually taken just before student teaching .Following is the list of Praxis II exams which WSU majors must complete for licensing in MN.

PRAXIS I PRE-PROFESSIONAL SKILLS TEST
All applicants for a first-time Minnesota teaching license must complete an examination of reading, writing, and mathematics (all teaching fields, birth – grade 12).  The PPST can be taken by paper/pencil or at Computer-Based Testing Centers. Please refer to the Praxis Registration Bulletin for a list of all testing centers. www.ets.org/praxis (WI will accept MN passing rates for PPST scores only; however, WI applicants will need to meet all WI required Praxis II scores-WI passing scores are available on the praxis web site listed above)
