"An invaluable benefit of any of our teacher education programs is the extensive practical experience that begins as early as the first year. Through this field experience, students who are considering teaching as a career can explore teaching roles and responsibilities right in the classroom."

As the first institution west of the Mississippi to prepare students for teaching careers, the College of Education at Winona State builds on a rich tradition spanning nearly 150 years. Our graduates enter their professional roles with knowledge, skills and experiences necessary to be effective educators committed to career-long professionalism. They will leave our programs ready to make a difference in the lives of others and within their profession.

Every program at Winona State University is firmly founded in liberal arts, as an essential foundation for learning and therefore, for education. Students will gain a wide range of knowledge and develop a desire for critical insight and inquiry, sharpening the communication and analytical skills so vital to teaching.
