Michael Olson, GIP Class of
2004-2005
The Graduate Induction Program has given me the opportunity
to start off my teaching career with more than just a classroom
of wonderful students. In addition I have the support, community,
challenge, and other rewards that the GIP program offers.
I am able to meet weekly with professionals and other graduate
residents. The classes that are taken with the program allow
me to further my professional development. When the program
ends for me I will have a year of teaching experience, a
Master's Degree, a wealth of educational knowledge, and
a network of professional peers that will assure my future
teaching success. |

Kathryn Palen, GIP Class of 2003-2004
The Graduate Induction Program gave me the competency to
become a well-qualified teacher through continued support
from my clinical supervisor, experiences in the classroom
where I was placed, and an amazing cohort of 15 other residents
who continually shared their knowledge and ideas. The entire
program is well focused on achieving success in the classroom
through professional classes, many group activities, and
a teaching staff that is dedicated to the success of every
resident in the program. I have gained a tremendous respect
for the teaching profession and feel proud to have been
a part of this intense and rewarding program. |

Ivy Saunders, GIP Class of 2003-2004
From the moment I heard about the GIP and everything it
had to offer, I felt it was the perfect thing for the first
year of my career. The classes in the summer before teaching
helped me connect with the other residents who would soon
be my colleagues. It was their support, along with the invaluable
guidance from my clinical supervisor, which helped me grow
as a professional much faster than I ever would have imagined
in my first year teaching. The seminars throughout the year
went hand-in-hand with what we were going through in our
classrooms at that time. In a nutshell, the GIP is everything
I appreciated about student teaching: the support and feedback
you need from seasoned professionals, along with the added
excitement of being a first year teacher with a classroom
full of hungry minds. |

Sue Nielsen, GIP Class of 1992-1993
The mentoring, coaching and support I received as
a resident was invaluable in getting me through my first
year as a teacher. It provided me with the strong foundation
I needed to be an effective educator. Now, coming full circle
as a Clinical Supervisor, I am the one sharing my own expertise
and experience mentoring, coaching, and supporting a new
generation of teachers. |

Debra Robinson, GIP Class of
2003-2004
The Graduate Induction Program is the perfect support group
for a new teacher. You never feel isolated and there is
always someone you can turn to if you have questions. The
group of people that you go through the program with becomes
a lifelong network of resources and friends. I am so thankful
that I received my Master's Degree through the GIP Program
and I recommend it to others as often as I can. |

Dawn Schuster, GIP Class of 1991-1992
The program provided me with weekly expertise and modeling
by a seasoned teacher. My clinical provided answers, planning
and feedback about my teaching. The yearlong program also
provided a professional model for me in my future years
in the classroom. It opened the door for a leadership role
as a clinical supervisor for me for the past two years. |

David Barnett, GIP Class of
1999-2000
The GIP program gave me the support a first year teacher
needs with the benefits of earning a masters degree. The
ability to work with and talk to a group of first year teachers
who were going through the same struggles I was relieved
a lot of stress and pressure first year teachers face. |
