Winona State University considers preparation of teachers as an all-university function. The Department of Education offers a professional sequence which, upon satisfactory completion, fulfills the basic requirements for licensure in Minnesota and most other states, as well as meeting requirements of the National Council of Accreditation of Teacher Education and of the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools.

Student teaching is a requirement for the completion of any one of the teacher education curriculums and is usually completed during the senior year. However, pre-planning beginning the sophomore year is essential to assure completion of all course work prior to student teaching. See our resource page for the handbook and other information.
