Going back to school after 25 years was very intimidating even though it’s exciting to be entering a brand new profession. The WSU staff and the teaching coaches in the Rochester Public School system have been unfailingly supportive and have made the transition process run extremely smoothly. The course work and student teaching have been interesting, challenging and rewarding, and my classmates have become friends and collaborators-each contributing to the success of the others. It’s invigorating to be working with teenagers, and I’m looking forward to a future of making a difference in their lives. |

The TLC program has offered me the opportunity to achieve a goal I have had for the last 5 years. I am able to earn my teaching license while focusing on teaching. Spending a year in the classroom working with a mentor teacher is a fantastic way to learn the profession of teaching. I recommend this program to anyone that truly has the desire to teach at the secondary level. |

The Teacher Licensure Collaborative has been just what I was looking for. I’d been actively looking for over a year at various processes and methods to obtain licensure as an elementary or secondary teacher. Most seemed complicated, time consuming, or so expensive that they didn’t seem viable alternatives. TLC has given me a straight forward way to achieve licensure in just 14 months. |

The TLC program has proven a good fit for my schedule. I was placed in a classroom early on where I am able to learn while doing and I will be licensed at the end of the year, ready to look for work. |

Being a student in the WSU Teacher Licensure Collaborative has been a wonderful experience. Becoming a teacher is an idea that I have contemplated for a long time. With the possession of a bachelors’ degree and with real world experience, I will be one in just over a year. The professors at WSU and the teachers at the schools where I have gained field and student teaching experience have all been very kind and helpful. I have had the opportunity to meet many new people and the friendships made with the other students in the program are sure to last a lifetime. |
