Course Description

The ELC offers core courses, electives, and lab/tutorials at three levels: beginning, intermediate and advanced.  Core courses are required of all students, and electives are recommended based on studentsí needs and preferences.  Lab hours are required for all students, but students may sign up for additional open labs and tutorials.  Level one courses (01 level) are designed for beginning ESL students, level two courses (02 level) for intermediate ESL students, and level three courses (03 level) for advanced ESL students.

Core courses (required of all students)

Students must take core courses. These core courses are:

    ELC 023  Reading and Writing Stories
    ELC 024  Intermediate Integrated Skills
    ELC 025  Intermediate Academic Reading and Writing
  3. 300 Level
    ELC 031  Advanced Oral Communication
    ELC 032  Listening Academic English
    ELC 033  Advanced Reading and Writing
    ELC 034  Advanced Integrated Skills
    ELC 035  Advanced Academic Reading and Writing

Electives

Electives are designated 04 level courses, and they are offered only selectively each given session.  Although electives are open to all students, students should be aware that they are somewhat challenging to beginners.
