Online Teaching and Learning

Co-moderated by Teaching, Learning and Technology Services (TLT) and the Educational Foundations, Research, and Technology Department, this community is not just for instructors of fully online courses. It brings together those interested in discovering, creating, managing, and evaluating a wide variety of online learning activities for use in any instructional context. This includes:

  • Leveraging open educational resources

  • Developing engaging and reusable online content

  • Applying serious online games and simulations

  • Facilitating online communication and group work

The New Classroom

Co-moderated by Teaching, Learning and Technology Services (TLT), Media Services, and the Faculty Development Committee, this community brings together those interested in using technology to engage students in active, experiential, and collaborative learning in both formal and informal learning spaces:

  • Leveraging laptops in the classroom

  • Facilitating independent and collaborative note-taking

  • Just-in-time teaching and classroom polling

  • Supporting collaborative and team activities in class

  • Facilitating effective team meetings

  • Managing group projects

  • Building strong relationships and communities

This includes:

  • Serving prospective students and parents

  • Content management, usability, and accessibility

  • Writing for the Web effectively

  • New and emerging services for external audiences
