Kryzsko Commons Renovation & Addition

The project will include an expansion to provide additional student study, meeting and interaction space, along with additional retail space for the Bookstore.  Portions of the existing building will be renovated to provide students with more functional spaces to meet their changing needs.  This will include work in the highly used Baldwin Lounge and the Winonan Room.  A new exterior entry will be developed to improve circulation both inside and outside the building.  This will include a new elevator to make this portion of the building ADA accessible.

One goal of this project will be to reduce the amount of deferred maintenance associated with the building exterior, particularly along the east elevation.  Currently this building has an exterior concrete ramp that is infrequently used due to being non-code compliant and in disrepair.  By completing this project, the existing east facade of the building, including the ramp, will be removed and will be replaced with a new exterior facade of masonry and glass.  It is WSU's hope to design this new facade to create an interactive connection from the interior to the exterior, to the center of the main campus.

In addition, the project will include extending a fire protection system throughout the entire Phase 3 building, along with substantial upgrades to the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
