Jeff Strom is currently teaching percussion and jazz at Winona State University. He is a member of the Rochester Symphony Orchestra (MN), director of the Winona Middle School Jazz Band, and percussion arranger/writer for the Cotter High School Marching Band. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Percussion Performance from Winona State University and a Master's in Percussion Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Iowa.
As a performer, Jeff has played in the South Dakota Symphony, the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra and drumset with jazz groups in the southeastern Minnesota area, including Swing Inc.'s recording, Dancing on the Ceiling. He is half of the percussion duo Times Two and a founding member of Pana Percussion. He has been part of several premiere performances, including Robert Moran's Kboco, and David Lang's I Walk, with master percussionist Steven Schick.
Jeff has been part of the percussion faculty at schools of all levels, including the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Augustana College (SD), University of Iowa, Saint Mary's University and Cotter High School. He is an active member of the Percussive Arts Society Technology Committee and past Interim President of the South Dakota Chapter. He is currently finishing a DMA from the University of Iowa.
