Cynthia "Cindy" Gary '69, Trustee

Originally from Fort Worth, Texas, Cindy graduated from WSU in 1969, with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education and Minors in Biology and Library Science. She has pursued a number of varied graduate credits to augment her teaching and business. She and her husband, Printice L. Gary live in Dallas, Texas and have three sons, Holland, Benjamin and Jonathan and two grandsons.

Though she is a retired teacher, she has never stopped teaching. Her passion began in the inner cities of New Haven, Connecticut and Detroit, Michigan. She pursued positive changes and went on to Minneapolis and finally Dallas, Texas. Cynthia has taught adult literacy (teaching the students and the teachers), taught Sunday school, Cub Scouts, teen pregnancy classes and substitute teaching grades 1-12; and has worked on the PTA board, served as chair of the Suzuki Institute of Dallas School Board of Directors and serves as Chairman of the Education and Research Committee and is on the Executive Committee for the Board of Directors of the Dallas Arboretum. She is also in the second term as President of an Investment Partnership in Dallas.

Cynthia enjoys volunteering, including working with the Red Cross, helping Hurricane Katrina victims and Church Ministries. She is the owner/creator of CG Designs, a one-of-a-kind hand-made jewelry business. Cindy enjoys her grandsons, traveling with her husband, puzzles (especially Sudoku), knitting, crocheting and crafts.
