Ted Fredrickson '67, Trustee
Ted and his wife, Diane, are both WSU alumni. Ted earned a degree in business education and went on to earn his Master’s and Doctorate from the University of Northern Colorado. Ted’s career in higher education included 26 years at the University of St. Thomas where he started as a professor and progressed to the position of dean of the Graduate School of Business. Prior to his work at St. Thomas, Ted taught at Bishop’s University in Quebec, the University of Northern Colorado and at Waldorf College in Iowa, where he also served as head baseball coach.
While at St. Thomas, Ted was responsible for a wide range of centers and institutes including real estate education, entrepreneurship, nonprofit management and small business development. He also has extensive international educational exchange experience and helped to establish agreements with universities in Australia, Taiwan, France, Uruguay, Cuba, Siberia, Greece, China, England, Ireland, Japan and Canada. In 2001 Ted was named the 14th president of Capital University, a position he held for five years. Ted retired from Capital University in 2006 after almost four decades in higher education.
Ted received the WSU Distinguished Alumni Award in 1997. He and Diane have two children and two grandchildren. They enjoy theater and music, as well as fishing and spectator sports, especially ice hockey.
