Geography Minor

The Geography minor will allow you to examine the differences and similarities of the various physical and cultural environments of the world.

Geographers are employed in a broad spectrum of fields including education, urban and regional planning, conservation, business location analysis, international business, international relations, geographic information science and more.

Our faculty are highly engaged and ready to help you explore economic, physical, and cultural geography.

Why Study Geography

Geography is the study of where things are and why they are there. It studies the distribution of both physical features like climate, water, and landforms as well as cultural aspects like languages, religions, and ethnicities.

In order to compete in the complex inter-connected world we live in, students need the spatial perspective gained from geographic studies to help understand many concepts, including

  • Globalization
  • cultural diversity
  •  international conflicts
  • climate change
  • natural and technological hazards
  • business location
  • transportation
  • energy production and dependence
  • the many uses for geo-technology
