Activity: use the maps below as an aid to drawing cross sections (sideways views or cutaway views) for the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean continental margins and deep ocean basins.
Draw a continuous cross section (sideways view or cutaway view) of the topography of the Pacific Ocean continental margin and deep ocean basin from Australia to South America. Include all the important sea floor features and label each. Also, label the boundary between the continental margin and the deep ocean basin. You may refer to the following maps to guide your skectching, but you should also refer to materials in your text that show what the seafloor in each of these areas looks like along the line of the cross section!
Draw the cross section across the length of a plain white sheet of paper (landscape orientation, not portrait).
