Dual Degree Agreement

Between Minnesota State Colleges and Universities on Behalf of Winona State University And Soonchunhyang University

PART I: TERMS OF THE AGREEMENT

Statement of Purpose:

This Dual Degree Agreement is entered into by Soonchunhyang University (hereinafter SCH) and Minnesota State Colleges and Universities on behalf of Winona State University (hereinafter WSU).  The Dual Degree Agreement is intended to be a continuation of the Agreement on Academic Cooperation executed by WSU and SCH in 2004, the terms of which are incorporated herein.  In the event of a conflict between the Agreement on Academic Cooperation and the Dual Degree Agreement, the Dual Degree Agreement shall control.

The purpose of this Dual Degree Agreement is to facilitate the conferral of dual degrees, one from Soonchunhyang University and one from Winona State University and provide a smooth transition from one degree program to another.  The Asian Studies Program at SCH and the Global Studies Program at WSU have been identified as initially suitable programs for participating students.

 

Terms and Conditions of Credit Transfer: 

The parties to this Dual Degree Agreement hereby agree to the terms and conditions set forth in this document. 

The evaluation and transfer of earned college credits shall be in full compliance with MnSCU and WSU policies and all other state and federal education policies pertaining to undergraduate credit transfer to Winona State University, and with Soonchunhyang’s Department of Academic Affairs to Soonchunhyang University.

 

Terms and Conditions of Degree Conferral:

Students must fulfill the graduation requirements of the degree-granting institution. The fulfillment of these requirements will be determined on a case-by-case basis for each student applying for degree conferral by the respective degree granting university; Winona State University and Soonchunhyang University.

PART II: IMPLEMENTATION AND REVIEW

The Chief Academic Officers or designees of the collaborating institutions shall be responsible for developing, by May 2006, a list of equivalent and transferable courses that will satisfy graduation requirements at both institutions, for implementing this agreement, for identifying and incorporating any changes in subsequent agreements, and for conducting a periodic review of this agreement.

This Dual Degree Agreement may be terminated according to the same terms set forth in the Agreement on Academic Cooperation.

The term of this agreement shall be for a five (5) year period beginning on August 1, 2006, and continuing  through July 31, 2011.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties have caused this Agreement to be duly executed intending to be bound thereby.

Appendix 1: Basic Requirements for participation in Dual Degree program

SCH Student to receive SCH degree

  • Selected as one-year exchange student by SCH and approved by WSU for exchange at WSU according to standards previously agreed upon by both institutions.
  • Be enrolled at SCH as a full-time degree-seeking student for duration of exchange to WSU.
  • Complete SCH degree requirements as determined by SCH’s Department of Academic Affairs while registered at SCH.

WSU Student to receive SCH degree

  • Selected as exchange student by WSU and approved by SCH for exchange at SCH according to standards agreed upon by both institutions.
  • Be enrolled at WSU as a full-time degree-seeking student for duration of exchange to SCH.
  • Complete SCH degree requirements as determined by SCH’s Department of Academic Affairs through credits earned at SCH and approved transfer credits from WSU. A minimum of 145 credits must be completed with a minimum of 32 major credit requirements earned at SCH. 

WSU Student to receive WSU degree

  • Complete a minimum of 128 credit hours
  • Complete at least 30 of the 128 credit hours during the junior and senior years combined.
  • Complete 46 credits of University Studies requirements including Flag courses.

SCH Student to receive WSU degree

  • Complete a minimum of 128 credit hours
  • Complete at least 30 of the 128 credit hours during the junior and senior years combined.
  • Complete 46 credits of University Studies requirements including Flag courses.
  • Pay all WSU tuition and fees including insurance and laptop and orientation fee.
  • Participate in orientation and outreach programs for international students.
  • Must reside in WSU Residence Halls for the first two semesters of enrollment at WSU.
