There are two compelling reasons for pursuit of global studies. One is that it educates us about a new reality. One of the purposes of education is to make us aware of what is happening around us so that we can have greater control over it. The second is that globalization has come to affect all of us in varying ways. We can be prepared to deal with this phenomenon and respond to it suitably only if we understand it in the first place.
