FulbrightFranco American Commission for Educational Exchange grants on interdisciplanary projects involving biology, health, physics, chemistry, mathematics and computer science, advanced technologies of information and communication, cognitive science, ethics, industrial societies and economic systems are available to conduct research in Nord-Pas de Calais, France. University of Minnesota Institute for Advanced Study offers Quadrant Project research residencies focusing on interdisciplinary scholarship in the areas of design, environmental sustainability, global cultures and health and society.

Murray Research Center, Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, offers postdoctoral, dissertation and undergraduate grants for resident research drawing on the centers information on youth and adolescence or diversity. Applications for individuals in the creative arts, humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences for the 2009–2010 fellowship year will be available by April 30, 2008. The Creative Minds in Residence Program in Midland, Michigan, program requires submission of a one-page biography with a one-page proposal outlining what you would like to do to interact with the student population. Northwood University will contact you for further information.

Foundation for Child Development addresses the need for basic information about the developmental characteristics and needs of the nation's fastest growing child population - children living in immigrant families. The fellowship supports young scholars who aim to identify and understand the challenges faced by immigrant families and their children. The Foundation program is called Changing Faces of America's Children Young Scholars Program.

National Research Council gives awards and fellowships for independent postdoctoral and senior scientific research. All research will be done at US. goverrnment laboratories. Deadline is August 1st.

Humboldt Foundation invites scholars from all fields to apply for summer fellowships or two year post doc fellowships to conduct research at German institutions.

The John W. Kluge Center at the Library of Congress accommodates up to two dozen post-doctoral Fellows pursuing resident research, usually for periods from six to twelve months. Interdisciplinary and cross-cultural topics are welcome. Post-doctoral Fellows have an opportunity to discuss their research with the Kluge Scholars and to explore possibilities for intellectual collaboration with other Fellows. Among the collections available to researchers are the world's largest law library and outstanding multi-lingual collections of books and periodicals. Deep special collections of manuscripts, maps, music, films, recorded sound, prints and photographs are also available. Further information about the Library's collections can be found on the Library's website: http://www.loc.gov/rr/. Scholars who have received a terminal advanced degree within the past seven years in the humanities, social sciences or in a professional field such as architecture or law are eligible. Exceptions may be made for individuals without continuous academic careers. Fellowships are available in American History, American Studies, health and spirituality, and foreign policy. July 15th Deadline.

National Research Council of the National Academies offers postdoctoral awards and senior research associates awards for the sciences of chemistry, earth, engineering, applied and computer sciences, life and medical sciences, mathematics, planetary science and physics. The Council offers Senior Research awards to conduct independent research in federal labs and affiliated institutions. Senior research may be for shorter periods of time than 12 months and carries health insurance, travel allowance and relocation benefits. Scientists and engineers may apply for three laboratories with one application. Annual stipends are from $38,000 - 65,000. Deadlines are Feb 1, May 1, Aug 1, Nov 1.

Grants for research AND writing, publication, planning, travel

School for Advanced Research on the Human Experience offers a number of programs with varying due dates. Many of these programs are for both research and writing projects. The Resident Scholar Program application is due November 1,2007. It offers $40,000 maximum with office, housing, library assistance and other benefits during a nine-month tenure. Six fellowships of this kind are awarded to scholars who need time to prepare a book or dissertation. Summer Scholar program is for two months or less. Deadline is December 15, 2007. Advanced seminar program with ten scholars meeting for five days on a topic relating to human behavior, evolution, society or culture is due April 1, 2008. A $10,000 prize for a book contributing significantly to our understanding of humankind via the J.I. Staley Prize are awarded through nominations due October 1st. The school is located in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Scholars are at work on topics including immigrant labor in the southern U.S poultry industry to the archaeology of shamanism in Siberia, from Christian evangelical activism to cross-cultural therapeutic approchases among Canadian First Nations.

National Science Foundation seeks requests for funding to support international research and educational planning visits, usually from 7-14 days.  These awards can support the initial phases of developing and coordinating integrated research and education activities with foreign partners. Deadlines are February 20, May 20 and September 20 annually.
