Transportation

Transportation accounts for a significant amount of the carbon emitted into the atmosphere. Commuting, flying, and importing non-local food and other products typically consume fossil fuels and contribute to carbon emissions.

We are working to decrease commuter miles by encouraging walking, biking and ride sharing for those who commute to campus; to decrease the overall consumption of fossil fuels for long-distance travel by faculty, staff, and students; and to decrease the amount of fuels burned importing food and other products to Winona State University. Our goal is to increase WSU's independence from fossil fuels without further endangering the environment.
