Summer Travel Study
Dr. Juan Fernandez will be leading a six-credit travel study trip to Spain this year during the summer. Dr. Robert Sauveur will be leading a four-credit travel study trip to Costa Rica, also during the summer. Both faculty members are in the Spanish Program of the Global Studies and World Languages Department. Dr. Linda D'Amico is likely to conduct a travel study trip to Ecuador this summer. This a a six-credit course and is in need of two more students to make it a go.

WSU Japanese Program/Japan Club
WSU Japanese Program/Japan Club participated in the Undokai (Japanese Sports Festival) at St. Cloud University on Saturday, Sept. 17. In Japan, this sports event is usually held on Saturday or Sunday in the autumn. Students were divided into two (or more) different teams to play various sports (Tug of War, Scavenger Hunt, Three Legged Race, Egg Toss, Relay, Soccer, dancing, etc…) and compete against each other!
Japan Club Earthquake Fundraiser
WSU's Japan Club hosted the Lunch Bento Box event on April 20, 2016. Since it was a huge success, the club decided to donate some of the money raised to support people and areas affected by the Kumamoto earthquake.
A donation of ¥ 15,000 ($150) was made to the Emergency Fund Raising for the 2016 Kumamoto Earthquakes (Kyushu region, Japan).
The donations will be used for relief funds, as well as for disaster recovery activities and various support activities.
