Alcohol/Drug Assessment
what
is it?
A confidential, individual interview with a three-prong
approach to diagnosing an alcohol or other drug problem.
what
does it involve?
The interview is about one and a half hours long and consists
of a drinking/drug history and timeline that
tracks patterns of use, the completion of a
pen/paper screening instrument and contact with another person (friend, family
member, roommate, etc) for a collateral contract.
why
would I want one?
You may be concerned about your own use and wish to
talk with a professional or perhaps a friend or family member has expressed
concern about your use and suggested you talk with a professional (no
charge). Many times assessments are court ordered due to underage
drinking, drug possession, or DUI charges. Alicia Dean can conduct an
assessment that is court ordered but there is a $75.00 fee. How do I set
up an assessment? Call 457-5619, stop by the Student Health Service in Maxwell Hall, or email
adean@winona.edu
to make an appointment.
