Scholarships
Please use the online scholarship application to apply for the following HERS scholarships.
Luther & Mildred McCown
Recipient must be an undergraduate student enrolled full-time at WSU with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applicant must be classified as a sophomore, junior or senior and a declared major in WSU’s HERS programs.
James & Margaret Browning
Recipient must be an undergraduate student enrolled full-time at WSU with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applicant must be classified as a junior or senior and a declared major in the field of Health Promotion and Public Health.
Joyce O. Locks
Recipient must be an undergraduate student enrolled full-time at WSU with a minimum GPA of 3.25. Applicant must be classified as a junior or senior and a declared major in the field of Health Promotion: School Health (Teaching).
Randolph W. Miller & Ruth Howe
Recipient must be an undergraduate student at WSU with at least 70 semester hours and a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applicant must be a declared major in WSU’s Athletic Training or Exercise & Rehabilitative Sciences Programs.
Athletic Training Alumni Scholarship
Recipient must be an undergraduate student enrolled full-time at WSU with a minimum GPA of 2.75. Applicant must be classified as a senior and be a declared major in WSU’s Athletic Training Major.
Winona Senior Friendship Center Exercise Science
Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate student with a declared major in Exercise Science (ERES). Applicant must have demonstrated financial need (through the Financial Aid Office).
Bud Dahlen HERS Memorial
Recipient must be an undergraduate student enrolled full-time and be a declared major in the HERS Department Movement Science option (ERMS). Applicant must also be actively involved in Christian organizations/education.
Derek Bute Memorial
Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate student (junior or senior standing) at WSU and a declared HERS major with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Financial need is a prerequisite, but not solely based on FAFSA. Veteran/Active Military is preferred but all students will be considered.
Patricia King Mertes & Frank Mertes
Recipient must be a Nursing or HERS major. Incoming freshmen need an ACT score of 25+. The criteria in order of importance: 1) Academic record 2) Interest in and aptitude for nursing and health sciences 3) Declared intention of becoming a healthcare professional 4) Financial need.
