TRANSFER STUDENTS
Transfer students wishing to complete the Social Science/History Teaching Major must first consult with the registrar’s office to determine the number of credits that Winona State University will accept. Generally, credits are applied to the university studies sections of the curriculum (section 1.).
The same rules apply for transfer students wishing to gain admission to the education department. Students must possess a “B” or better equivalent to ENG 100 and CMST 191. Students must possess a “C” or better in the equivalent to MATH 100 or higher. Students must have a 2.8 or better grade point average. Students must possess 30 credited transfer hours.
If a potential transfer is coming in with all of these requirements, it is recommended that they take the PRAXIS I test prior to the semester of arrival. With all of the above requirements met, and a passing grade on the PRAXIS I test, students may attend the education department admissions meeting within the first weeks of their first semester at Winona State University (contact the Education Department office for admissions meeting times). If a transfer student has not yet met the above requirements, they should contact the director of the Social Science/History Teaching Program, Dr. Matthew Lindaman, 220 Minne, or mlindaman@winona.edu.
