Dr. Gregory Schmidt
Professor of History
Born dazed and confused in the City of the Big Shoulders out in the Prairie State, Greg Schmidt has been drifting along searching for the main chance ever since. His fancy schooling began when he moseyed on down to Champaign-Urbana on the plains of central Illinois, where the brain drivers at the Big U Spread stuffed his head with book learnin’ so it was fuller than a chuck wagon on the first day of the long drive. Eventually he hornswoggled some Old-Timers in the art of advanced Tall-Tale Telling to brand him as a PhD in Yarn-Spinnin’ about those “thrilling days of yester-year.” Then, in 1984, this daring and resourceful scholar from the plains and his schoolmarm wife, Cathy, pulled up stakes, packed their kit, and hit the trail for the North Star State so he could join up with the History Gang at Winona State. He’s been holed-up in Minne Hall, and in his hideout on the West Campus, ever since.
