The Sexual Violence Advisory Committee proposes that in order to address the issue and response for GBV education and advocacy four issues needed to be addressed:
- Creation of a Peer Advocacy and Education Group that provides a 24-hour crisis response for GBV survivors.
- Collaboration with the WSU’s Women’s and Gender Studies (WAGS) Department and the Women’s Resource Center (WRC) to create and implement a comprehensive curriculum that would include SV/DV advocate certification training that will increase capacity and sustainability of this program.
- Employment of a graduate assistant that would be housed in Health and Wellness Services to coordinate all aspects of the GBV advocates, which include coordination of peer education outreach, scheduling and maintaining the 24-hour crisis line, and assuming responsibility for continuing education for the advocates.
- Offering eight educational events for the university community to take place over the academic year.
