Beds in Maria Hall
|
New mattresses and bed frames have been ordered for Maria Hall that will be arriving this summer. Due to this change, all beds will be bunked for each resident when they move in -- an option that was not previously available in Maria. The bunked option will be provided at no extra cost and will provide extra floor space in the room. The traditional set-up in Maria placed both beds on the floor and required students to rent a loft to receive the extra floor space that is not available.
Because of this new set-up, we would like residents to see the new space available in their room before they choose to rent a loft. This will potentially save residents from spending $75.00 on the kit in an attempt to have more space, as that desired space is now available.
However, all residents will still be offered the loft option on move-in day, August 19, 2008, if they would still like a loft. Residents who choose to, may rent a wooden loft extension kit for $75.00, which will be applied to their student account. Plenty of loft extension kits are available and we do not foresee running out.

The Main Level of Maria Hall is comprised of the main entrance to the building, along with the front desk, main lounge, and kitchen.
The Maria Hall front desk is located just inside the main entrance. This desk is open during several daytime hours by residence hall desk assistants. At the front desk, students can check out kitchen equipment, games, sporting equipment, tools, and equipment for the recreation tables in the lower level.
The main lounge of Maria Hall is a large open area with comfy couches for lounging, tables and chairs for studying, and large wall of windows for enjoying the view of the bluffs, and a fireplace. Just off the main lounge and behind the front desk are a smaller lounge and a kitchen area for cooking. The area has large counter space for preparing meals, a stove and oven for cooking, and a full-size refrigerator. This kitchen area is open for all residents of the building to use, 24 hours per day.
