Alumni House

The Department of Housing & Residence Life provides a warm and friendly housing option for alumni, parents, faculty and university guests during their stay in Winona. The Alumni House is conveniently located close to main campus and offers four bedrooms to accommodate up to eight guests.

The first floor living room, dining room, and kitchen are available to the Alumni House guests. The first floor is wheelchair accessible and is also home to the Winona State University Retiree Center.

If you would like to know more about the Alumni House or make a reservation, please email us at or call 507.457.2978.

Guests of the Alumni House must be affiliated with Winona State University.

To check availability or make a reservation, please email or call 507.457.2978.  The Alumni House does not have a 24/7 desk operation, but the Alumni House Assistants reply quickly to inquiries (email messages or voice mails). Same-day requests are often difficult to accommodate; we recommend that you make reservations in advance, particularly for peak periods such as Homecoming, Family Weekend, and Graduation Weekend.

Rates are $30.00/person per night.

Children at the house: Please note that we do not have equipment to accommodate the housing of young children and that the house is not child-proofed for their safety. For liability issues, we cannot allow guests under the age of 5. We apologize for the inconvenience.

There are four guest bedrooms on the second floor of the Alumni House.  Room A and Room D have one full-size bed, while Room B and Room C have two XL twin-size beds.  Rooms A and B share a bathroom.  There is a common bathroom on 2nd floor for all guests to use as well.  Each room includes bed(s), closet, alarm clock and TV.  Linens are provided (sheets, towels and washcloths); guests are responsible for their own toiletries.

We do not offer room service but the Alumni House Assistants who live on-site can be contacted, if needed.

Guest parking is available in the driveway; guests receive one parking pass with each reservation.

Overnight guests are welcome to use the first floor facilities during their stay (kitchen, dining room, living room with TV).  The first floor is reserved separately from the guest bedrooms, and if there is an event going on during your stay, we ask that you are respectful to others using the facilities.  If you would like to reserve the first floor facilities with your overnight request, please include that information  in your initial reservation inquiry.

Check-in starts at 2:00pm on week days and 5:00pm on weekends and holidays.  Keys must be picked up at the front desk of Haake Hall (223 W Mark Street).  Please let Alumni House staff know if you plan to arrive after 11pm (7pm on weekends and holidays); you will need to contact a Haake Hall staff member to get your key (contact information is posted at the entrance of Haake Hall).

Check-out time is 11:00am; keys can be returned in drop box at the Alumni House.

Winona State University student clubs/organizations, staff, faculty, retirees or alumni can reserve the first floor of the Alumni House for a meeting or small event (maximum attendance of 25).  Contact us to check availability.

All meeting/event guests must comply with the terms of the Alumni House.  It is the responsibility of the event coordinator to communicate those terms to all those attending. Please remember that the Alumni House is alcohol and tobacco free.

Driveway parking is reserved for overnight guests; event participants must use street parking.

The Alumni House is property of Winona State University, therefore, all policies  apply to Alumni House guests.

Winona State University is an alcohol and tobacco free campus.

Guests are free to use the kitchen, dining room, living room and computer in the kitchen.  Each guest bedroom has an internet connection but there are no printing, faxing or copying capabilities for Alumni House guests.

Guests using the kitchen should wash dishes and wipe down tables/counters after each use.

Winona State University is not responsible for any lost or stolen items from the Alumni House.  This includes anything that may be left behind by guests.  Guests should keep their belongings in their room during their stay.
