New and Transfer Students

New students and transfer students will receive information about the laptop program and how to get a laptop when they come to campus for group registration. Any new students that do not register during the group registration times should contact the Technical Support Center in Somsen Hall for laptop information.   

Depending on when a student registers they may be able to pick up a laptop on the same day as their registration. If laptops are not available technicians will be available to schedule a pick up time. 

WSU Students on Rochester Campus

The laptop requirement DOES NOT apply to WSU students on the Rochester campus if they are part time students OR if 50% or more of their credits are taken on that campus.   WSU Rochester Campus students can voluntarily participate in the laptop program with the same fees as other participants.  Those students in Rochester that want to voluntarily participate in the laptop program should contact technicians in room GL118 or call (507) 457-5240.

Part-Time and Graduate Students

The laptop requirement DOES NOT apply to part-time (less than 12 credits) WSU students, however, these students can voluntarily participate in the laptop program with the same fees as other participants.  Those students that want to voluntarily participate in the laptop program should contact technicians in at the TSC (Somsen Hall room 207) or call (507) 457-5240.

Student Laptop Exchanges

Laptops are exchanged for newer models when they are approximately 2 years old. Students will be contacted by email, when it is time to exchange their laptop for a newer model. Most exchanges occur during the school year and the first week of Fall semester. Users MUST back up data on their computer prior to the exchange date.
