Printing in the Library consumes a tremendous amount of paper.

Out of concern for the environment, the Information Gallery staff would
like to point out just how much paper is being used in the hope that
students will be more aware of how much they are printing and hopefully
take advantage of one of the many options available to conserve paper
and reduce waste.

Some examples of student paper use in the Library:

During the final four weeks of spring semester 2007, students in the Library
printed enough pages to empty 83 boxes of paper.

Over the entire 2006-2007 academic year, students in the Library
printed 3,060,000 pages.

(That amounts to 612 boxes of paper, enough to fill over 15 pallets, and
weighing approximately 16 tons.
)

Unfortunately, about 100,000 of those pages were left behind by
students - enough to fill 20 boxes, or an unknown number of trash bins.

Please think before you send a job to the printer, and if possible:

Print double-sided  (Mac)  (PC)
Print handouts       (Mac)  (PC)
Save the PDF and search it
Save the web page and search it

If you need any assistance doing any of these tasks, please come to the IG desk.

Thanks for helping out!
