Jeanette & Arnold Bergler Scholarship
Constant improvement through continuing education is the driving force behind Jeanette (Salwey) Bergler’s ‘52/’57/’64 career as an educator. That philosophy compelled her and her late husband, Arnold, to establish the Jeanette and Arnold Bergler Scholarship.
Growing up near Winona, Jeanette earned three degrees from Winona State, including her master’s in 1964. She taught for more than 35 years in Spring Grove and Rochester and substituted for another 18 years after retiring.
Jeanette always sought to improve her teaching. “Teachers expect the best from their students, and they should expect a lot from themselves as well,” she says
“Through our scholarship, my husband and I wanted to support the brightest, most motivated students who have a real passion for teaching, who make a real difference in education. Good teachers are more important now than ever.”
Awarded to a junior or senior elementary education, recipients of the Jeanette and Arnold Bergler Scholarship must have a minimum grade point average of 3.5.
