WINONA, Minn. - Mitchell Stalsberg became the 11th Winona State baseball player in school history to be drafted on Wednesday when the Detroit Tigers selected him in the 23rd round. He is the first player drafted since Tony Mueller 2011. Stalsberg is the fifth highest drafted player in school history and the first to be selected by the Detroit Tigers.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Winona State's Tyler Nehring was selected as one of 31 people chosen to serve a 12-month internship at the NCAA national office in Indianapolis. Nehring was former WSU baseball player and most recently served as a student assistant during the 2017 baseball season.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - In the final NFCA Coaches' Poll, Winona State is ranked 20th in the country, after finishing with a school record best 52 wins. The Warriors received 91 points in the final poll after reaching the Harding Regional Championship and coming within a game of reaching the NCAA Super Regionals. Winona State was last ranked nationally back in week six during the 2016 season.

CULVER CITY, Calif. - Fastpitch News named Winona State's McKenna Larsen an All-American Honorable Mention pitcher. This is the second All-American honor this season for Larsen, who finished the year with a 26-5 record and a 1.15 ERA in the circle. Larsen had 24 complete games and 12 shutouts in 2017.

WINONA, Minn. - Winona State is excited to announce the addition of Jordan Holdsworth to the athletic staff. Holdsworth will serve as the Assistant Athletic Director for Events and Ticketing. Previously, Holdsworth served as the graduate assistant men's basketball coach at Wayne State from 2015-17.

WINONA, Minn. - Winona State has announced that Julie Hennessy has stepped down as the Women's Golf Coach. Xenia Straight has been chosen to replace Hennessy, effectively immediately. "I'd like to thank Julie for her time and dedication over the past six years" said Athletic Director, Eric Schoh. "She has left the program in a place where they can have continued success in the future. I welcome Xenia to the Warrior family and I'm confident she will be a fantastic addition to our staff."

BRADENTON, Fla. - Kathleen Taylor set a new school record in the shot put, placing third and earning All-American honors at the 2017 NCAA Track & Field Championships. Taylor threw 15.59 meters/51-1.75 feet, beating the school record by over a foot. Heather Buckler also earned All-American honors, taking eighth with a throw of 14.84 meters/48-8.25 feet. The Warriors finish the NCAA Championships with 14 team points, their most since 2011 and third most in school history.

BRADENTON, Fla. - Both Megan Seidl and Kathleen Taylor placed 16th in their respective events on Friday. Seidl ran 24.27 in the 200 meters while Taylor threw 45.64 meters/149-9 feet in the discus. Taylor threw 45.64 meters/149-9 feet in her first of three throws on the day, it would end being her best effort. She was nearly as good on her second throw, making a mark in the dirt at 45.51 meters/149-3 feet.
