Winona State University Jazz Combos

Jazz Combos help students learn the art of jazz performance and improvisation in a small ensemble setting. Groups range in size from four to nine pieces, and all instrumentalists are welcome. There is an audition required to participate in the combo program. Students are heard at the beginning of each fall semester and placed into groups of like experience and ability. Each combo performs once each semester, though many groups chose to add additional performances off-campus at various venues.
WSU course number is MUS 239 - offered each semester - may be repeated for credit. This course can be applied toward the University Studies Fine and Performing Arts requirement.
For further information on the jazz combos as WSU, please contact Dr. R. Richard MacDonald.
