Dr. Daniel Sheridan

Clarinetist Daniel Sheridan enjoys a multifaceted career as a solo recitalist, orchestral and chamber musician, conductor, music educator. He completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in May 2003 at The State University of New York at Stony Brook where he studied with Alan Kay and Daniel Gilbert.

A native of Houston, Texas, he started the clarinet at age eleven. In 1994 he graduated from Oklahoma State University and in 1998 received a Master's degree in clarinet performance from the University of Akron. Previous teachers have included Babette Belter at Oklahoma State University and Håkan Rosengren at The University of Akron.

As a solo recitalist, he has presented performances and masterclasses across the Midwest and Northeast, and in July 2008 performed at The International Clarinet Association's ClarinetFest in Kansas City, Missouri.

As an orchestral musician, he was most recently the principal clarinetist of the Lawton Philharmonic Orchestra, and has performed with The Wichita Falls Symphony, The South Bend Symphony, The Richmond Symphony, The Akron Symphony, The Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, and The Tulsa Ballet Orchestra. He has also worked as a freelance musician on Long Island, New York.

Currently, Dr. Sheridan is in his first year on the music faculty at Winona State University. Prior to his appointment at WSU, Dr. Sheridan also served on the music faculties of Cameron University, The University of Akron, The College of Wooster and The State University of New York at Stony Brook. He resides in Winona with his wife, Melanie, their two daughters, Hannah and Sarah, their twin sons, Joshua and Jacob, and their cat, Spanky.
