Facilities and Equipment

The DuFresne Performing Arts Center

The DuFresne Performing Arts Center, located in the center of the campus, houses the Music Department, the Theatre/Dance Department and Communication Studies Department.

The Vivian Fusillo Theatre seats 490. Students, faculty and guest artists throughout the year perform in our recital hall which comfortably seats 190 and is used for large ensemble concerts, theater and dance performances.

Two large rehearsal rooms are set up for instrumental and choral groups complete with audio systems. Ample practice rooms, large teaching studios, a small ensemble rehearsal space and a piano lab equipped with Yamaha clavinovas and teaching station round out the music facilities, conveniently housed under one roof.

Every year the music department brings in a variety of guest artists and clinicians, such as jazz, classical and world music vocal and instrumental performances. Songfest, a popular elementary music event, brings to the campus large groups of young children for a day of singing.

Each November, the WSU Symphonic Wind Ensemble hosts the annual High School Honor Band Festival, and in February, the WSU Choirs present the Dessert Music Theater.

Vocal students each year have the opportunity to participate in the Minnesota state NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) competition.
