WSU Receives Award for Excellence in Management
Story by: WSU Office of University Communication
The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system announces Winona State University has received a 2007 award for Excellence in Financial Management.
The awards program, which began in 1997, publicly recognizes the outstanding contributions of the system’s college and university employees who work in finance and facilities management. Award winners were selected from nominations made by presidents and college and university leadership.
The Excellence in Financial Management award is given to universities and colleges who have made significant contributions to increased efficiency and effectiveness of finances and administrative services throughout the institution.
“These awards honor the leadership, innovation and creativity that our managers in finance and facilities contribute to our colleges and universities across the state,” said Laura M. King, the system’s vice chancellor and chief financial officer. “They work hard to increase efficiency and enhance the assets of our system, and we know their hard work pays off for our students and the people of Minnesota.”
The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system comprises 32 state universities, community colleges, technical colleges and combined community and technical colleges located on 53 campuses across the state. The system serves approximately 242,000 students annually in credit-based courses and another 140,000 in non-credit courses.
