WSU Men's Basketball Wins 2008 National Championship! Story by: WSU Office of University Communication 
The Winona State University Men's Basketball team beat Augusta State in the NCAA Division II Championship Game March 29, capping off their third consecutive visit to the Championship Game with a second national title.
The Warriors (38-1) came back from a 12-point deficit at half-time to beat Augusta State 87-76. Senior Jonte Flowers, named the 2008 NCAA Division II Elite Eight Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player, scored 25 of his 30 points during the second half. WSU was well-represented by the team, coaches and many dedicated fans who made the trip to Springfield to cheer on the Warriors. Congratulations Warriors!
