WSU Offers CLASP Lectures Online

Lectures from Winona State University’s series, Consortium for Liberal Arts and Science Promotion (CLASP), are available online via the WSU Streaming Video Archive.

The archive feature lectures from September through November 2007.

In honor of WSU’s Sesquicentennial, this year’s theme was “Where Have We Been? Where Are We Going?"

The series included the following lectures:

  • "Looking Back, Looking Forward: WSU's School of Education" presented by Melanie Reap, Education;
  • "David Orr’s Vision of the Sustainable University: A Challenge to WSU" presented by Jim Armstrong, English;
  • "The North American Prairie Conference at Winona State University: A Unique Opportunity to Enhance Education, Conservation and Sustainability in the Bluff Country Bioregion" presented by Bruno Borsari, Biology;
  • "History's Interdisciplinary Future: Lessons from the Rise and Fall of Area Studies in Eastern Europe" presented by Matt Lungerhausen, History;
  • “Where Have We Been? Where Are We Going?” presented by WSU President Judith Ramaley;
  • “Where We’ve Been: WSU in Winona's History” presented by Peter Henderson, History, and Mark Peterson of the Winona County Historical Society;
  • "Global Studies: The Present and Future of the Program that Claims that We Must First Understand the World in Order to Improve It" presented by Michael Bowler, Global Studies, and Ruth Forsythe, English;
  • "Written in Stone: 40 Years of Geoscience at WSU" presented by Toby Dogwiler, Geoscience;
  • "The Past and Future of WSU: A Panel Discussion" presented by the WSU Dean's Council.

This annual lecture and discussion series is sponsored by CLASP, in collaboration with the College of Science and Engineering and the College of Liberal Arts.
