As part of the campus budget planning for the current fiscal year, one of the cuts made was the cancellation of the search for a half-time professional photographer. Additionally, the University Communication budget has been trimmed to remove most photographic services.

Beginning with the start of the academic year, all University departments and individuals will have to find ways to provide for their own photographic needs either internally, or through the use of freelance or other hired photographers: professional or student employees.

The University Communication office staff can consult with departments to aid in their planning for coverage of their photographic needs. The University Communication office (Phelps B-18, phone 5024) has purchased two high-quality, point-and-shoot 35mm Nikon cameras that departments can check-out short-term for specific events or photo opportunities.

WSU Media Services (Howell B3, Phone 5110) has expanded their digital photography technology and has a number of digital cameras (both still and video) available for check-out.

In addition, the WSU Bookstore offers 35mm and Advanced Photo System film processing and printing at reasonable prices and quick turn-around (1-2 days). May's Photo (113 W. 3rd St.) in downtown Winona is a full service photo/camera store and can provide film processing and printing as well.
