Terry L. Lierman
Bethesda, Maryland

Terry Lierman graduated from Winona State University in 1969 with a degree in Political Science. He then went on to further his education studying at the University of Minnesota and University of Wisconsin-Madison's Center for the Study of Public Policy and Administration where he obtained his Masters degree in 1971.

Following graduation, Terry interned with the National Institutes of Health and went on to have several positions with the United States Senate's Health and Human Services sub-committee on labor. He began as a professional staff member with the HHS sub-committee; eventually becoming staff director. By 1979, Terry had become the chief clerk of the United States Senate Committee on Appropriations. His work with the National Institutes of Health and in Congress were important in shaping his career and present occupations.

Since leaving school, Terry has gone on to start several businesses in the Washington D.C. area. He is the founder and President of Capitol Associates Inc., a consulting firm providing government and public relations services for individuals, universities, non-profit organizations, hospitals and corporations in a variety of fields, but especially health and human resources, environment, education, and food and drugs. Terry also serves as the President of Employee Health Programs, a nationwide health services company servicing over 5,000 companies with medical review of drug tests, employee assistance programs and drug testing program administration. In addition, he is Vice Chair of TheraCom, a mail order pharmaceutical company; and he is Executive Director of the National Coalition for Cancer Research and the FDA Council.

Terry is very active with national and community organizations and boards. He is Vice Chair of the Washington Council of UNICEF and is on the board of directors for Harvard University's Pollin Institute. Furthermore, he has helped to found numerous other organizations, such as the Children Research Institute, and Research! America.

Terry has also been recognized as a leader in health care administration field and has received numerous distinctions and awards. In addition, he also has numerous articles in multiple journals and newsletters and has several books in publications. In 1987, he published his first book with Liebert Publishers entitled, Building a Healthy America: Conquering Disease and Disability, which had a subsequent addition released in 1992.
