If you were advising
undergraduate students who plan to pursue a graduate degree in
political science or public administration what courses or classes
would you recommend that they take?
| ID# | Responses |
| 001 | It seems that no matter what level of government one works in, a good understanding of public finance and budgeting is needed. Good written and oral communication skills is essential. It is helpful to know some of the aspects of human resource management. It is invaluable for a graduate to have a basic understanding of computers and the windows environment. Knowing several software programs such as Lotus 1-2-3 or WordPerfect is critical. |

| 046 | Finance, Computers, Language (foreign) in addition to major courses. |
| 047 | First, I would make certain they understand the limitations on earning a living with such a degree. Second, I would STRONGLY recommend as much research (which requires extensive reading) and the preparation of papers (which will develop thought processes and writing skills). I would emphasis any course that might fine tune analytical skills, including logic and statistics. |
