If you participated in organizational activities on campus, do you feel that this had a positive or negative impact on your search for employment?

008 Being involved with other students in activities is a terrific way to develop social communication, and promotion skills as well as make the college experience more fun and exciting.
011 It showed involvement and time management skills. It also showed leadership ability and communication skills.
013 I think any kind of participation teaches you how to work & relate w/ others. Although there is usually a common bond, you experience various personalities & styles and how to relate to them.

061 While at WSU, our speech team was excellent and nationally ranked. I learned speaking skills which have allowed me to excel as an attorney. I will soon begin a job where I will be teaching prosecutors around the country. The speech program at WSU is a vital program.

068 When seeking employment, work experience is most important, if an organization promotes something useful to an employer i.e. computer skills/communication skills this would be a big benefit.

070 Not sure, since I’ve mostly been in employment outside of my major. But I’d lean towards the "positive", since org. activities would help rather than hurt.

074 I have worked 12 years in the railroad industry, mostly in administrative positions. I am presently preparing myself for a shortline managers position. I feel my experiences at Winona State have helped me developed administrative skills and helped me in my dealings representing the company to various governmental agencies.
075 Team work and building relationships-very important in the business world.
080 Track and field wasn’t great for finding employment, but it did provide for interesting discussions in my interviews.

091 I firmly believe that I owe most of my post-graduate success to my involvement in activities outside of class. Employers and grad. schools, especially those involved with public policy look for anything which makes an individual stand out. Experience, even with a student group is highly valued.
093 Ahmed had me working to hard! Actually I did several intern programs e.g. city mgr. Chancellor in MPLS.
