Interdisciplinary Initiatives:
Child Advocacy Studies - minor Contact Persons: Jackie Hatlevig, Carole Madland 2005-2006 Funding: $18,000 Funding Source: Innovation Impact (# of students): To be determined The purpose of this project is to initiate implementation for the long-term strategic plan for the Child Advocacy Studies program. Program goals include creating a center of excellence on the WSU campus or Child Advocacy Center., to develop partnerships within the university and outside the university to enhance the development of the Child Advocacy Center and most importantly to increase awareness, recognition and intervention of child maltreatment by developing and disseminating a model curriculum that would focus experiential, interdisciplinary, ethical and culturally sensitive content for professionals responding to child maltreatment and advocating for children. To achieve these program objectives, strategies will include creating a WSU Child Advocacy Study Research Consortium, the development of a minor in Child Advocacy Studies, the development of community partnerships with community agencies and partners and plans to develop graduate programs in Child Advocacy Studies for law, medicine, clergymen, etc, and a plan to disseminate these curriculums nationally.
