Renovation of Maxwell Hall:
$11.1 million to renovate Maxwell Hall.
Construction began in March 2007, with March 2008 the target completion date.
Occupants are currently reviewing furniture specifications and making final minor modifications.
Child care center will remain in Wabasha Hall. Discussions are underway for a faculty development center in the vacated east Maxwell Hall 1st floor space.
Leasing of Cotter Junior High School (Wabasha Hall)
- Current lease term runs from July 1, 2006 to June 30, 2008.
- Tentative agreement with Winona Cotter Schools to acquire the facility subject to the MnSCU Board of Trustees approval in November 2007.
- Targeted closing date is December 31, 2007.
Lincoln School - Demolition
- Building demolition and removal of debris is complete.
- Former Lincoln Building location will be filled with gravel to allow for overflow parking over the winter.
- Final parking lot construction will be completed in the Spring/Summer of 2008.
Howell Hall - Demolition
- Scheduled for demolition in the fall of 2008, $466,000 in funding for demolition of Howell Hall approved by Legislature in 2004.
- Occupants of Howell will eventually be relocated to Somsen and/or Phelps Gym.
- Planning meetings have begun on the relocation of the TV Studio and possibly KQAL to the Phelps Gym location.
Somsen Hall Backfill
- When Maxwell Hall is completed, approximately ¾ of 1st floor Somsen will be vacated. Space Utilization Committee has forwarded their recommendations onto the administration.
Integrated Wellness Center (Memorial Hall Expansion)
- Capital Investment Committees of the Minnesota Legislature have visited the campus to tour this project.
- 80% Schematic design review meeting will be held with MnSCU on November 9th.
- The Wellness Center Construction Task Force continues their planning with Holabird & Root.
Pedestrian Tunnels – Winona and Johnson Streets
- A $2.8 million federal appropriation was transferred to MnDOT for this project.
- MnDOT will be the lead on this project working with WSU and Canadian Pacific Railway.
- Tentative completion is slated for summer 2010.
COMPLETED PROJECTS
Memorial Hall – HEAPR Project – Locker Rooms/HVAC
- $4 million in HEAPR funding has been approved to renovate the Memorial Hall locker rooms and HVAC system.
- Substantial completion of project on August 17, 2007. Final punch list and review of project is underway.
Student Union Solarium
- Solarium construction is complete. Project was on time and on budget.
Pasteur Hall Remodeling
- Remodeling is complete. Project was on time and on budget.
Expansion of Maxwell Child Care Center to Madison School
- WSU has entered into a five-year lease with Winona Area Public Schools (WAPS) for the Madison School Childcare Center.
- WAPS has competed renovation of the Madison School area for the Childcare Center.
- Grant has been received from MDHS in the amount of $39,950 for the renovation of Madison.
Residence Hall Master Plan
- URS and ESG have completed the Residence Hall Master Plan.
