In order to qualify for employment, insurance coverage, or scholarships, or to satisfy certain legal requirements, students commonly need to provide proof of enrollment or proof of graduation. Human resource offices in some large companies routinely request such information on behalf of new applicants. To assure compliance with state and federal laws that guarantee data privacy, the Registrar's Office requires that all such requests be in writing and be accompanied by a signed release from the student.
Winona State University regularly provides a complete file of enrollment and graduation data to the National Student Clearinghouse, a non-profit organization founded by the higher education community to streamline the student record verification process for colleges and universities, students and alumni, lending institutions, employers, and other organizations. The Clearinghouse maintains a comprehensive electronic registry of student records that provides a single, highly automated point-of-contact for organizations and individuals requiring timely, accurate verification of student enrollment, degree, and loan data. By providing appropriate identification to the Clearinghouse, a student or someone authorized by the student can obtain the necessary enrollment/degree verification electronically, often faster than the Registrar's office can provide it. Enrollment Verification documentation is also available as one of the many walk up services available at the Warrior Hub, Maxwell Hall 209.
