Global Village
We live in a global village.  World music, globalization forces, the global environment, as well as conflicts around the world have much more influence on our lives than we often realize.  This living and learning community will explore this often hidden village that exists around us.

All students choosing this topic will be required to take the 1 semester hour course .                

 

RESC 201 Residential College Seminar:  Global Village (1 S.H.) 
This course is designed to explore the connections between various disciplines through activities outside of class and discussion.  This section will include assignments based on the topic of Global Village.  This class partially satisfies the 128 semester hour requirement for graduation.

 

In addition to RESC 201, please sign up for at least one more course from the list below.

 

CMST 191 - Introduction to Public Speaking (3 S.H.)  
Includes selection and organization of materials, delivery of common types of speeches, listening skills, and analysis and evaluation of presentations.  Grade only.  Offered each semester.  This section will contain assignments related to the Global Village topic.  This class satisfies the WSU University Studies Oral Communication requirement.

 

GS 200 - Introduction to Global Studies (3 S.H.)
This course introduces students to a framework for viewing the world as a unit and explores a variety of contemporary global issues such as economic development, environmental problems, status of women, world population and its implications, ethnic conflicts, etc. Offered each semester.   This class satisfies the WSU University Studies Global/Multi-cultural Perspectives requirement.

 

MUS 114 - World Music (3 S.H.)
A survey of selected world music cultures. Cultures covered are chosen from Africa, India, China, Japan, Southeast Asia, Indonesia, and the Americas. Designed for the general student as well as the music major and minor.  Concert/listening lab required. This class satisfies the WSU University Studies Global/Multi-cultural Perspectives requirement.
