THE LEARNING CLUB
The Learning Club is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the continuing education of retired people. It capitalizes on the strengths and characteristics of older learners, offering programs selected, attended and often taught by the membership. WSU ELDERHOSTEL PROGRAM
The WSU Elderhostel Program is part of the national Elderhostel program which is America’s first and the world’s largest educational travel organization for adults 55 and over. Nationally, more than 9,000 programs in over 90 countries and in all 50 states are offered annually. WINONA SENIOR FRIENDSHIP CENTER
The City of Winona provides a wide range of programming for seniors 55 and over at its Senior Center. The mission of the Center “ … is to provide an environment for socialization, education, health services, recreation, creative expression, resources and referrals to older adults in Winona County.” No general membership fee is required , however, selected programs will charge fees to help defray expenses. The Senior Center is located at 251 Main Street, Winona, MNÜ 55987 (phone : 507-454-5212; Fax #: 507-454-7652). The Center is open Monday through Friday, 8.00am to 4.00pm
ASSOCIATED RETIREMENT ORGANIZATIONS IN HIGHER EDUCATION (A.R.O.H.E.)
AROHE is a non-profit, international network of retiree organizations at colleges and universities that seeks to foster the development and sharing of ideas to assist member organizations in achieving their purposes and goals. The Association of Retirement Organizations in Higher Education (AROHE) has prepared a “Start-up and Development Kit” to guide individuals who seek to set up faculty or staff retirement organizations at their host institutions. The Kit summarizes the experiences of members of successful retiree groups and presents guidance on how to begin and maintain a retiree organization. Included in the document are sample by-laws, strategic plans, and histories of active organizations.
