Accounting
WSU-Rochester Center
offers the Accounting major, which is an in-depth major requiring no minor.
The basic purpose of this program is to prepare students for careers in
business and government, with emphasis on preparation for professional
certification.
Through the
2+2 Program, students can complete this Bachelor of Science degree in
its entirety in Rochester by completing lower division credits at Rochester
Community and Technical College and the major's upper division credits
at WSU-RC.
To graduate
with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, a total of 128 credits are required.
Normally, 64 credits can be transferred from a two-year institution and
the remainder can be taken from WSU or transferred from a four-year institution.
At least 30 semester hours must be taken from WSU.
Admission to WSU
- Transfer students must have completed at least 24 transferable semester college-level credits (with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.40) at a regionally accredited college or university
- Transfer students who have completed fewer than 24 transferable semester college-level credits at a regionally accredited college or university must submit a final high school transcript and (1) have an ACT score of 21 or higher or (2) have an ACT score of 18 or higher and have been in the top 50% of their graduating class.
- Obtain a transfer application from the Registration/Reception desk in Rochester or print an application form from the website: www.winona.edu/admissions/382.htm
- Submit official transcripts for all colleges, technical colleges or universities attended to :WSU Admissions Office, P.O. Box 5838, Winona, MN 55987-5838.
- Submit the completed application along with a $20 non-refundable fee to Admissions, Student Services or the Cashier's Office at UCR.
Graduation Requirements
- Complete all coursework and satisfy all other WSU requirements for
a B.S. in Accounting.
- Complete a minimum of 15 credit hours of 300/400 ACCT courses at WSU.
- Achieve a grade of "C" or better in each course listed under
"B.S. Major-Accounting in the university catalog
- At either the beginning or end of the last semester of undergraduate
work, have a minimum of both a 2.50 overall GPA and 2.50 in Accounting
courses.
- A minimum of 50% of the College of Business credits required for the
Accounting Major must be completed at WSU.
- Sixty-four non-business credits are required for the Accounting Major.
The statistics (six semester credits maximum) and economics courses
(nine semester credits maximum) required for the Accounting Major may
be counted toward the 64 non-business credits.
